CAREER DEVELOPMENT: In 2007 she was awarded an English Heritage Scholarship enabling her to embark on part-time study for an MA in Maritime Archaeology at the Institute of Archaeology, University College London (2007-2009). She hopes this will give her skills in an area that fascinates her, lead onto work on-site as part of an excavation team and provide the basis for a PhD. She is also interested in the recovery and interpretation of plant macrofossils from shipwrecks and plans to complete Nautical Archaeology Society training and hopes to become a tutor for them.

OUTREACH: Outreach has been an aspect of her work she has been able to develop as freelance archaeologist. She is part of a team led by Dana Goodburn-Brown (director of AMTeC co-op Ltd) providing popular archaeologically themed modules for KS2 children via Medway Children's University at The Historic Dockyard Chatham. Her module introduces archaeobotany to children via 'laboratory' scenarios and 'experimental archaeology' exploring traditional and ancient plant crafts and cures. She is also offers talks and practical sessions for adults and older children. She has run a workshop for Kent Archaeological Field School and given lectures to students at Birkbeck College. Themes have included 'An introduction to Archaeobotany' and 'Sampling and Processing for Plant Macrofossil Recovery'. Others can be designed on request.
